We’ve made no secret of the fact that BABY born is turning 30 this year! And now, in her birthday month, we’re inviting children across the UK to join in the celebrations!
To mark this amazing milestone of 30 years of helping to develop children’s imaginations through creative play, we’ve teamed up with the educational resource experts at iChild to help thousands of children around the country host their own BABY born birthday party!!
Here, we take a look at why the partnership means so much to us and what children, nursery teachers, childminders and parents can expect of our upcoming campaign.
Teaching children through play
Inspiring little imaginations through creative play is what we pride ourselves on, and as part of our 30th birthday celebrations, we’ve teamed up with leading educational resource expert, iChild, to develop our BABY born Birthday Activity Pack. In line with the early years foundation stage (EYFS) framework, the pack will help children aged three to five learn all about celebrations and birthday parties through doll play.
This marks our third year of partnership with iChild, which is an online resource destination for parents, carers and nurseries for children from birth to 11 years old.
iChild supports its more than 380,000 members, who have more than 4.2 million children in their care and, with it being an official EYFS provider, we’re honoured to have a hand in its high-quality fun and educational activities for a third year.
Our partnerships in 2019 and 2020 saw us produce resources around bath and bedtime routines, the importance of hygiene and building friendships – all created to support development and learning through play. These campaigns resulted in 95 per cent of participating education providers recommending BABY born dolls to other educators and mean we have been awarded the ‘iChild Recommends’ status for the next 12 months!!
This year, to celebrate the launch of our Birthday Activity Pack, we’ve sent a BABY born Magic doll to 500 nurseries in the iChild network to bring the activities and celebrations to life! Every activity in the pack is designed to help develop some of the children’s key development areas, including fine and gross motor skills, cognitive development, vocabulary and speech development and social and emotional development – everything that BABY born is about!
Supporting children as they grow up
Our work with iChild means we can support children aged between three and five, as they transition in what are some of the most important years of their life. Whether they’re developing their growing imagination and understanding of their emotions or getting ready to leave the nursery setting and start school, our activity packs have been designed with the EYFS framework in mind. They include roleplay-inspired tasks, class discussion points, creative drawing and other crafting tasks – perfect for use within the current curriculum.
Our BABY born Birthday Activity Pack contains four exciting activities built around developmental milestones and includes themes such as planning a party, getting dressed for a party and making friends. They’re child-led and perfect for enjoying in a nursery’s corner or at the table in school. For younger children, it might simply be a case of practicing their mark making and using their imagination. For older children, the activities offer a great opportunity to better their writing skills, use their pincer grasp and fine motor skills or learn about cooperative play and showing understanding of others’ feelings. What’s more, the activity pack will encourage children to articulate feelings and emotions, helping to develop their language and communication skills.
To bring the activities and celebrations to life, the pack has been designed for use alongside our BABY born Magic dolls, who are the perfect party pals for teaching children about friendships and bonding – part of what makes a birthday party so special!
